Standard Machine LLC
Standard Machine is a Phoenix based machine shop that sells all related parts at comparable prices. We have been in business for over 18 years located in the Glendale area. In the past ten years we have been doing 90 percent race engines and related parts.
Our current shop includes a serdi head machine, rottler diamond hone air float boring bar, bake oven and shaker large glass bead machine, large bio parts washer, bridgeport, large lathe, sunnen rod equipment and heater. Van Norman engine balancer, superflow flow bench, bhj torque plates (including LS1 and AMC), bhj liftertrue equipment, bhj o-ring equipment, Van Norman variable speed surfacer, flywheel machine and a large supply of porting equipment.
We have done machine work on everything from Model-T's to 600+ big chief engines and have expertise in european race engines also. On a weekly basis our norm would be a 347 Ford, a large cubic inch Mopar, and a 350 Chevy.
The shop personnel consist of:
Roger Lorton - age 56 shop manager
Avid racer from age 16, raised in Indiana moved to California
after military duty and moved to Phoenix Arizona in 1986 to start selling
automotive and related machining.
Bill Wallace - age 40 - asst. shop manager
Bill meet Roger through Jr drag racing in 1995 and began
working part time until his military retirement in 2004. Bill specializes in
cylinder heads, both race and dealership 4valve work.
Paul Lorton - age 18 - machinist
Paul began racing Jr dragsters at age 8 and quickly picked up
on what drag racing is all about. His accomplishments in Jr's included
winning all three Arizona tracks in 2000. 2004 he drove his fathers 65
Fastback to PSCA open comp championship. Paul is a freshman in college for
pharmacy. Paul is responsible for all block boring, prepping, and torque
plate honing.
